The Theatrical society of The IIS University in collaboration with 5 senses Theatre group, Mumbai organised a 35 days theatre workshop during the month of September. As a result of the same, the team, the team staged the Annual Play on 5th October 2016 at the IIS Auditorium. The team also kept a pre screening of tw show for the students of three government schools. One of the most interesting thing about this year's annual play was the fact that the team had a whooping participation of almost 60 students.
The play was adopted by 'The Miser', a five act comedy play written by the French playwright Moilere. The play depicts a classic conflict between love and money. The protagonist is a sixty year old man who loves nothing but his money. The comedy develops through a series of tricks the characters hatch to make the old man change his decisions an perceptions. Through the play the team makes its best effort to show the reflection of the society in a humorous way.
The event started with the hawan pooja followed by the lamp lighting ceremony by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Ashok Gupta, accompanied by the Registrar Dr. Rakhi Gupta and Theatre Society coordinator Dr. Aditi R Khandelwal. The cheif guest for the evening Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, Bollywood actor and singer inaugurated the show.
The effective ise of lights and set helped in building the atmosphere and enhanced the play. The play was directed by Sweety Ruhel and had acting guidance from Mr. Gurinder Sethi. The show was a huge success and the efforts of the students were appreciated by one and all.
