Solo skit ‘ Santati – It didn’t start with you’

The students of COSD Diploma Theatre Studies presented their solo productions on the last academic day of the year 2020-21. IISU Theatrical Society in association with COSD Theatre Studies organized a solo skit ‘ Santati – It didn’t start with you’ on June 18, 2021 at 3:00 PM. Student of COSD Diploma Theatre Studies Ms. IshaSaxena performed the solo.

The productions were curated over the pandemic, completely online and came out as audio-visual documentaries or short films. However, the process of making the plays was completely theatrical. Themes were chosen by the students and then they were developed using devising forms of theatre. They reflected upon what made them choose these themes, what incidents invoked it and what tools they could use effectively to tell their stories.The first screening was of Santati created by IshaSaxena. The play was a documentary and compilation of shots that revolved around generational trauma and its implications. Moreover, it talked about how women faced trauma and the burden of the same kept being passed down to the generations that came next.this playis curated under the guidance of Ms. MumalTanwar, the professor of COSD Diploma Theatre Studies. She taught the students methods of observation, documentation and storytelling with respect to theatre. In a challenging year, an additional knowledge of cinema and videography was also given to the students.Total number of participants was 30
