The IISU Theatrical Society organized a costume exhibition on 9th and 10th March 2021. The exhibition displayed costumes from all the plays that have been performed at the university in the past years including Saleeb, Rustom O Sohrab, Phool and fools and many more.

The Alumni students, Nandini Chaudhry, DikshaKhatana, Chandrika Jajoo and Kritika were also invited for the same and have been an active part of the theatrical society over the years. All of them have been an over achiever in their times and have worked to bring laurence to the society.

Diksha Khatana and Nandini Chaudhary have worked like a backbone during all the shows or plays by working back stage, designing costumes and being so supportive. An actor creates a character but a costume establishes it by giving emphasis to it. Likewise, Chandrika Jajoo and Kritika have established them as an all rounders of the society and have been an absolutely source of support and inspiration for all of us.

In the session, the alumni talked about the importance of costumes in the play, for an actor and most importantly the character it gives life to. They talked about “Why did they choose to design for  stage plays, what was the process of designing costumes for a specific character, the colour psychology, what texture, process of sourcing the materials and in short their whole experience, each one of them”.

To make the event more interactive, the students had a few energizers and a question answer round where they asked questions to the alumnae related to designing costumes. At the end, the event was summed up by felicitating the Alumnae with the token of gratitude.
